Light toning but very good. 19th century bookplate of the Medical Library of the New York State Lunatic Asylum.</p> <p>First Edition journal issue. Hoppe-Seyler was the first to describe the optical absorption spectrum of purified red blood pigment which he named hemoglobin. He described hemoglobin's two distinctive absorption bands and confirmed that hemoglobin contains iron.
