A hitherto unpublished notebook reproduced in facsimile and accompanied by corresponding readings from the 1824 first edition of the Library Companion. It contains Dibdin's comments on books manuscripts and prints examined by him in the University Pepys St. John's College and Trinity College libraries. The introduction by the editor Renato Rabaiotti describes the events surrounding Dibdin's life in the 1820's and places the notebook in the perspective of Dibdin's career. There is also a current finding-list of the books manuscripts and prints Dibdin examined compiled by David McKitterick.
