Privately printed for the wife of Lieutenant Colonel Francis Abel Smith. Illustrated with a frontispiece sixteen plates and one folding table to the rear. Collated complete. A detailed and comprehensive history of Abel Collin's Charity founded by Abel Collin an English philanthropist. By his Will published in 1704 twenty four alms houses were built in Nottingham. Now the oldest charity in Nottingham it exists some three hundred years after its initial founding as The United Charities of Abel Collin. Written by Everard Leaver Guilford an English local historian. With an introduction from Alexander Samuel Leslie Melville and a concluding chapter is written by Thomas Gallimore. In the original full cloth binding. Externally smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally firmly bound.
