Binding is still tight and all pages are firm. Front cover is not fully shaken but is in the process of separating from the spine from the bottom. The original leather and lettering have flaked off the right half of the spine and what remains is in poor condition. It appears that some brown tap was applied to secure the spine in the distant past and two strips of it remain on the front and back covers. Shelf wear to top and bottom of spine corners of covers are rounded and worn. Pages show mild tanning commensurate with age but quite good overall. 1/8 inch creases to bottom corners of pages 50-90. 252 pages. <br/> <br/> Henry & Sweetlands hardcover

Original lithograph hand colored in wash when published. This early geological map depitcs the Witchita Mountains in the north El Paso in the west to the Missisippi River in the east and the Gulf of Mexico in the south. At the left side with find a color explanation key for the various geological formations. On the upper left side is the cartouche with the mileage scale.
