Known for his varied and eclectic writing style Champsaur was a prominent figure in French society producing a number of well-received novels largely of the romance variety. This particular collection is divided into ten sections including works such as 'Sauvés par l'Amant' 'La Faute de Lilas' and others. Wonderfully illustrated with numerous vignettes and eighteen full-page plates in colour by Italian artist Manuel Orazi. Known for his art nouveau designs Orazi's illustrations provide a delicate and elegant accompaniment to this work. Collated complete. Bound in the publisher's paperback binding with the original glassine cover. Externally very smart with light rubbing and the odd crease to wraps. The occasional mark to wraps and some discolouration to the spine. Lacking rear endpaper with front a little strained. Internally generally firmly bound with light strain to the first few pages. Félicien Champsaur apologizes for his late response: ""Ne m'en veuillez pas et pardonnez définitivement à un confrère harcelé par tous les flux de la vie mais qui est ""votre ami"" très acquis par les plus charmants souvenirs"" ""Do not hold it against me and forgive definitively a colleague harassed by all the streams of life but who is 'your friend' very devoted through the most charming memories"" and extends his best wishes for the beginning of 1903. He also mentions the forthcoming publication of his work ""L'orgie latine"" to be published by Eugène Fasquelle and which will be decorated with illustrations and proposes to his correspondent to collaborate on the review la Bavarde to which he contributes some articles. unknown
