Black and white copperplate engraving of Armenia and "The Great Media" including Persia The Black Sea Gulf of Arabia the Gulf of Persia and a portion of the Indian Ocean. Extracted from MR Rollins Roman History produced by d Anville and completed by MR Crevier. Title cartouche in lower right segment of chart. d Anville was a noted French cartographer born in 1697 and active since the age of 15. He provided many of the charts for Rollins historical volumes and was emulated by many future cartographers. This excerpt provides an exceptional example of his geographic accuracy and attention to detail. Slight discoloration. Left border is cut short along top. Two vertical creases.
