Full color cover art depicts a Nativity scene by Kelly Freas The original 3-D glasses are NOT present but we have laid in 2 pairs: a 1950s children's 3-D glasses that was a Puff's Sugar Crisp cereal premium and a more generic adult pair. The comic book is in about very good condition: Tight bright and attractive with light soiling at edges of covers a small faint stain on back cover and supple pages that are very lightly uniformly tanned. Marc Trivier does not print new copies of his old portraits and the printing paper he used is no longer commercially available. The artist ""produces his own prints on Ilford baryta paper devoting several days of work to each one with particular concentration on rendering the whites in contrast with blacks of rare density. A Fine tight copy in a Fine bright unclipped dust jacket. Rear-Admiral Sir John Franklin 1786 – 1847 was a British Royal Navy officer and Arctic explorer. Franklin also served as governor of Tasmania for several years. He disappeared on his last expedition attempting to chart and navigate a section of the Northwest Passage in the Canadian Arctic. The icebound ships were abandoned and the entire crew perished from starvation hypothermia tuberculosis lead poisoning and scurvy. Sir John Franklin made his last Arctic expedition in 1845 and within three years the crew of the expedition had disappeared. Noel Wright provides in this book a history of the various Arctic expeditions beginning in the 16th Century on up to Franklin's disappearance. We include a court summons in the name of Nadine Nimier issued by bailiff Gustave Karsenti and dated 19 June 1973 as a witness for Bernard Noël's lawyer prosecuted by the court in criminal proceedings at the 17th chamber on 25 June 1973 for offence against public morals through his work ""Le Château de Cène"". Despite the defence and testimony of Nadine Nimier Bernard Noël the author of the work was condemned on 9 July 1973 to a 3000 franc fine and his publisher Jérome Martineau to 4000 francs. Two press clippings also included. Provenance: from the library of Nadine Nimier wife and widow of Roger Nimier and cited by Bernard Noël's lawyer as witness at the trial of the work. Handwritten ledgers and some typed letters are creased or torn on edges due to storage. <br /> <br /> John Chapman Wilson was an American stockbroker turned theater director and producer. Wilson met Noël Coward around 1925 and by 1930 was both his lover and his business manager. In 1934 with Coward and others Wilson established Transatlantic Productions with exclusive production rights to Coward's plays in the United States. He began producing shows on Broadway in 1935 and is probably best known for directing the original productions of Kiss Me Kate 1948 and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes 1949 Carol Channing's Broadway debut.<br /> <br /> In 1944 Wilson produced Bloomer Girl at the Shubert Theater a comedy starring a female lead character who rejects hoop skirts despite her father's ownership of a hoop skirt company and opts for more comfortable bloomers instead. The show explored feminist abolitionist and anti-slavery themes. It was choreographed by Agnes de Mille and featured a civil war ballet scene. Bloomer Girl had a successful Broadway run a national tour including a Los Angeles residency and a later TV adaptation though it is seldom revived.<br /> <br /> This archive includes:<br /> - 1938 cable from Coward to Wilson referencing Hugh French an actor that worked on their production of Operette that year and the SS Samaria<br /> - Bloomer Girl Playbills from October 1944 and March 1946 at the Shubert Theater<br /> - Three issue of The Magazine of New York City Center of Music and Drama from 1947 during the show's six week run there<br /> - Two typed copies of a review by Sidney Phillips during their preview shows at the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia<br /> - Five copies of typed letters and one telegram sent from Wilson to the cast dated between November 1944 to June 1947 some congratulatory and some disciplinarian in nature<br /> - Several newspaper clippings some are duplicates of show reviews and a few referencing film or television adaptation possibilities<br /> - One clipping about Gentlemen Prefer Blondes<br /> - Five pages of ledgers and budgetary information both typed and handwritten referencing both the stage production and potential film. unknown
