Hector Malot 20 May 1830 - 17 July 1907 was a French writer born in La Bouille Seine-Maritime. He studied law in Rouen and Paris but eventually literature became his passion. He worked as a dramatic critic for Lloyd Francais and as a literary critic for L'Opinion Nationale. Fourth Edition. In a navy blue quarter calf leather binding with marbled paper covered boards. Externally sound with slight rubbing. There is some minor wear to the extremities. Internally firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean with some scattered foxing. Very Good E. Descluseaux is strongly inspired by with some variations André Gill's caricature of Hector Malot published in No. 116 of 1881. In André Gill's drawing Hector Malot's blouse is red blue in Descluseaux's version the pen yellow colorless in the copy and the bundle of books yellow red in the Descluseaux.
