Written during a time when there was increasing demand for captivity narratives from North Africa this book is now understood to be a highly fictionalized account of a well documented historical event so it is not used as a historical reference. However it does provide sociological insight into the norms of the time as some give this genre of fiction credit for helping shape cultural views of the era. Published by the Yorkshire weekly post this work provides a delightful record of old Yorkshire coaching days. Stagecoach travel was disappearing by the 1840s and this work was intended as a record of old Yorkshire coaching times before their complete extinction. Comprised of expanded versions articles published in the newspaper the work enumerates various routes in county and the exploits of the men who used its roads. Written and illustrated by Tom Bradley an English journalist and illustrator. Bound in full blue calf. Externally smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot or handling mark. Age toning to the first and last few pages. A 1" closed tear to one of the advertisement pages to the rear with loss to the final page of advertising. Pencil inscriptions to the title page and advertisements.
