Uniformly bound in the original cloth binding with a elephant illustration to the front board both of these volumes are the first U. S. editions. Joseph Rudyard Kipling was a English journalist novelist poet and short story writer. Born in colonial India Kipling spent his school days in England. One of the leading authors of the 19th and 20th century he is perhaps famous for his novel 'The Jungle Book'. An extremely influential and popular writer poet Alison Brackenbury once stated 'Kipling is poetry's Dicken's'. In 1907 aged 42 he won the Nobel Prize for Literature making him the first English language writer to receive the accolade. Rudyard Kipling is of course best remember his novel 'The Jungle Book'.
