Both volumes are in dark red cloth with dark red leather spine with gilt titles. The boards are very taut and level and quite clean; the leather at the ends of the spines are worn and the corners are a little worn. The end papers of both volumes are slightly tanned and a little foxed. The cut edges have red dotted pattern. The text blocks are in very good plus condition and with numerous black and white photos and colour frontispieces by Norman H. Hardy.
