In June 1957 the author an English mountaineer traveller explorer and writer. accepted an official Soviet invitation to climb in the Caucasus Mountians. In July 1957 she climbed the highest mountain in Europe the 18000 feet high snow-capped Mount Elbrus in the Caucasus region walking through its western central regions and in Svanetia Georgia.
