19700008113U. S. Good. 1970. On offer is an interesting group of three notebooks that offer an insight into the thoughts of a famous astrologist and syndicated columnist. The group consists of 3 wire-bound notebooks each 9 3/8 inches by 6 inches. Each contains 150 pages and are 47% 34% and 31% complete respectively. The covers and all pages are intact. There are numerous notes clipped into pages at varying places. The handwriting is legible and all three are in good condition. Joyce Jillson styled herself as the "Hollywood Astrologer". saying she decided such show business milestones as advising George Lucas to open his genre-launching "Star Wars" on May 27 1977. She began her career as an actress in the 1960's staring in The Man From U.N.C.L.E and most famously Peyton Place. In 1973 she starred in Superchick. She also had guest appearances on Columbo Lou Grant and Police Woman. Her real strength however was her regular appearance on television talk shows such as Good Morning America The Tonight Show and The Merv Griffin Show. In addition she also hosted her own syndicated program The Joyce Jillson Show. Jillson had been reading about and studying astrology since she was a little girl. By the 1970's she was firmly in the astrology 'business' as noted above. She garnered some big-name corporate clients such as 20th Century Fox Ford Motor Company and the LA Dodgers. Most famously she claimed in 1988 that she had provided astrological advice to President Ronald Reagan and his wife. She wrote an astrology column that was syndicated to about 200 newspapers. She published several books including The Art of Flirting. Some of her notes in these notebooks clearly refer to her work in television. She is very aware of communication strategies especially as it intersects with body language: "body language is a symphony. there is a feedback factor between a person's body and self-esteem". She notes the use of tried and true sales techniques such as: "We know that people are more readily presumed to change their attitudes when they perceive the communicator as being a person like themselves i.e. someone they can identify with and therefore trust. Also the higher the communicator's social status why ads use celebs supposed expertise the more credible his message becomes. ." There are brief or cryptic references to Pete Rose baseball player Willie Wilson baseball player George Brent actor George C. Scott actor Michael Jackson entertainer and others. Other entries appear to be notes preparing for interviews or personal critiques of her performance in interviews: "RADIO emphasis patter . downward inflection gives relief to audience - relax gossipy over the back fence - they want to believe looked stiff and neck turned stiffly . too harsh lighting . apparently after an appearance on an NBC program"; Manuscript; 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall; KEYWORDS: HISTORY OF 20th CENTURY AMERICA IN 1970s AMERICA IN 1980s JOYCE JILLSON; ASTROLOGY; MICHAEL JACKSON; PEYTON PLACE; MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.; SUPERCHICK; GOOD MORNING AMERICA; MERV GRIFFIN; TONIGHT SHOW; ASTROLOGIST TO THE STARS; PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN; NANCY REAGAN; LA DODGERS; 20TH CENTURY FOX AMERICAN ACTRESSES AMERICAN ASTROLOGERS ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY IN THE U.S. IN 1970s AND 1980s USE OF BODY LANGUAGE COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES AMERICANA HANDWRITTEN MANUSCRIPT DOCUMENT LETTER AUTOGRAPH WRITER HAND WRITTEN DOCUMENTS SIGNED LETTERS MANUSCRIPTS DIARY DIARIES JOURNALS PERSONAL HISTORY SOCIAL HISTORY HISTORICAL HOLOGRAPH WRITERS AUTOGRAPHS PERSONAL MEMOIR MEMORIAL ANTIQUITÉ CONTRAT VÉLIN DOCUMENT MANUSCRIT PAPIER ANTIKE BRIEF PERGAMENT DOKUMENT MANUSKRIPT PAPIER OGGETTO D'ANTIQUARIATO ATTO VELINA DOCUMENTO MANOSCRITTO CARTA ANTIGÜEDAD HECHO VITELA DOCUMENTO MANUSCRITO PAPEL . unknown

197111516Pittsburgh Pa: KNOW Inc 1971. Walstedt concludes her analysis by stating: "There is inevitably a period of social upheaval and Idsorganization during any major social change but I have great faith that the ultimate changes will be positive. Out of the ashes of a twisted feminine psychology of penis envy must come a radical new therapeutic psychology which gives women the courage to go counter to a culture that has consistently betrayed their selfhood."<br /> <br /> Corner-stapled 11" x 8 ½" sheets 11 1 p.
