A nice copy of the First Edition early printing of the hardbound edition that contains Kilmer's most famous poem. An early printing with "Cortez" on page 22 and the absence of "Printed in the United States of America" on the copyright page. BAL 253. The cover is fawn and the book is quite square but with moderate toning to the pages darkness on the page edges a light inkmark on the front free endpaper and a very narrow strip of darkness on the top front cover; otherwise the book has been well protected. The labels on the front cover and spine are complete but may not be original. The dustjacket is complete but with soiling and darkening to the main panels. An important book of poetry. George H.
