1971396811East Hampton New York 1971. Unbound. Very Good. Broadside. Illustrated by Isadore Seltzer. Measuring 13" x 19.75". A bit rubbing and smudged along the top edge very good. Poster for a performance at the Old Post Office Theatre in on Newtown Lane in East Hampton New York co-owned by photographer Ken Robbins who used the upstairs as his first dark room. The theatre specialized in avant-garde plays by the likes of Harold Pinter Terrance McNally Sam Shepard Eugene Ionesco Joe Orton Rochelle Owens Boris Vian Leonard Melfi and others. Drama apparently did not pay the bills so the theatre put the kibosh on live performance after just two seasons in favor of art house films. It was likely that few of these posters were made for each performance and even less that have survived. unknown

1985259270Paris France: R. Ionesco 1985. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very good. Signed by Other. Limited to 2500 copies. Catalog for traveling exhibit. Very good in very good dust jacket unclipped and in mylar. LONG PRESENTATION in Romanian from whom and to whom is not clear mentions the Künstlerhaus Edenkoben. Born in Romania Dobocan spent some early years in prison and was closely watched by the communist secret police. He was arrested on other occasions experiencing many of the horrors of the Ceaucescu regime until he managed to defect to Germany in 1978. Dobocan was one of those who perceived and reinterpreted the message of French artistic culture. His guideline was the collective image of the Surrea list form or the version best represented by Rene Magritte and Paul Delvaux based on non-objectification the dialectics of the rational and irrational and introvert contemplation what André Breton called "l´abandon pur et simple au merveilleux". Dorél Dobocan cannot be accused of borrowing or appropriation. His own optics imparted a special significance and inner dynamism to the image linked to the processes of the identificationof the magical and the irreal in the real. Dobocan s pastels of the late 1970s and early 1980s are quasiobjective. Dobocan also employs traditional Surrealist objective realities and processes directly linked to what André Breton called "intersection of the main magistral of the dream". R. Ionesco hardcover
