19215582131921. Unbound. Near Fine. Two original pen and ink drawings on artists board. Each measures approximately from 8¼" x 10". Overall near fine with hint of toning at the edges and some wear at the corners. The drawings are not signed but both have pencil notes on the rear noting the book in which they appeared: Padraic Colum’s The Golden Fleece and the Heroes Who Lived Before Achilles published by The Macmillan Company in 1921. The images depict Jason of the Argonauts reaching for Aeson his stern-looking father and King Admetus crumpled in a chair lamenting his upcoming Death while his wife Alcestis stands touching his head in comfort before choosing to take his place in the Underworld. Each drawing is a fine representation of Pogany's crisp line work. A nice pair of images. Book not included. unknown
195505614HISTORIC LETTER TYPED LETTERS between Willy Ley & Mrs. Fritz Lang the former dated 7-11-1955 one page over 200 words and SIGNED & the latter dated 7 -25 -1955 one page about 175 words and SIGNED respectively concerning the origin of "The Countdown" in rocket launches. It seems that in the former letter Ley realizes that the first time he encountered such a thing was in Lang's film FRAU IM MOND a silent film released in 1929. He writes to ask Lang if this was an original thought on his part. Mrs. Lang answers for her husband who is on vacation after many weeks work on NEWS IS MADE AT NIGHT in the affirmative! A seemingly historic correspondence. N.p. unknown
