1930blb08744London: MacMillan and Co. 1930. 1st thus. Hardcover. Near Fine. Finely bound in 3/4 navy blue leather over boards with a patterned cloth. Same design to endpapers. Top edge bright gilt and spine elaborately tooled with gilt two maroon leather title boxes and four other panels. Some minor rubbing to edge of leather where it meets spine. Book still Near Fine with no markings or flaws inside and only the minor aforementioned to outside. Filled with line drawings by Hugh Thomson - title page printed in black and red with red rulings. Very nice later printing - stated as 1930 on the title page - of the first edition with Hugh Thomson illustrations. MacMillan and Co. hardcover

19147921<p>This is a handsome antique copy of "CRANFORD" by Mrs. Elizabeth Gaskell. 1914; Macmillan and Co.; London. With illustrations throughout by Hugh Thomson. This copy has been beautifully custom-bound by ZAEHNSDORF in full leather with seven raised bands and gilt decorations on the spine marbled end papers gilt page edges on all sides of the text block gilt decorations along the outer edges of the inside covers and a gilt border on the front and back covers.<br /><br />Condition:<br />Clean covers and spine. There are a couple tiny chips to the leather at the top and bottom edges of the spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. Nice interior - the pages are lightly age-toned and clean with no notable issues found. The book has been beautifully re-bound by Zaehnsdorf. Bright gilt page edges on all sides of the text block. Overall the book is in Very Good condition.</p> Macmillan and Co. hardcover
