Originally issued in French as À la poursuite des aigles the work was a book-of-the-month selection of Le Cercle du Livre de France; for this research and book Deléry was decorated by the French government with the Cross of the Legion of Honor for her contribution to Franco-American relations.</p><p>This copy is inscribed by the author and includes notable ephemera directly tied to the book's reception in the United States: a signed letter from Simone de la Souchère Deléry to the wife of painter Dmitri Vail in Dallas Texas and a newspaper clipping from the Dallas Times Herald dated March 2 1973 reporting on Deléry's visit to Southern Methodist University. Together these items document the author's promotional and cultural outreach around the book and provide strong traceable provenance.</p><p>Book is in Very Good condition: clean text tight binding only minor age-toning and shelf wear no significant markings.
