1938203389Somerville NJ: C. P. Hoagland Co 1938. Hardcover. VG. Signed by author tipped in watercolor 5.6" x 4" by Anne Waldron one of the included artists of a Country Fair scene. An exlibrary copy with a few markings but not bad. No exterior spine label but a ghost on upper left corner of froont cover from a label being removed. Cl-bckd boards. ix 209 pp. 72 bw plates. This book consists of biographies of living artists residing in New Jersey. They are based on personal interviews. Also included is a list of additional artists and potters in the state. Notes on art organizations and museums in the state. 72 artists are treated to individual essays with one bw plate for each. Number 72 of 100 copies of a limited edition signed by the author. One could reasonably presume that far fewer were signed by the vast majority of the featured artists as this one is. The only other author signed copy I have seen had a signed etching tipped-in at the front not a watercolor as this one has. A very scarce book in its regular trade edition. A very good copy with some light looseness probably initiated by each of the artists opening the book and laying it flat in order to sign their name. Most of these signatures are in pencil.
