Very Good condition aesthetically pleasing complete six volume set small 4 x 6 inch red cloth hardcovers gilt lettering and decoration to front and spine. Top edges are gilt bindings tight. Vol. II Flaubert has rubbing to cloth of front and back covers else minimal shelfwear. Frontis portraits with protective tissues intac for all six volumes I II III IV V VI. Note: the red cloth boards of Vol V Alphonse Daudet slightly lighter in tone page edges are trimmed as opposed to the untrimmed other volumes and there is no gilt signature present on front board indicating a possible different printing of the same edition. All are copyright 1903 and all but Daudet have 1905 on title page with Daudet not dated. Each volume begins with an introduction followed by the authors' works. This volume is from the library of Rangemore Hall belonging to the Bass family. Rangemore is a village in East Staffordshire and the village church was designed for Michael Thomas Bass in the mid nineteenth century. This volume belonged to his elder son Michael Arthur Bass. Undated. Dated using world cat from a copy held at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France In a quarter calf binding over patterned boards. Externally generally smart. Lightly rubbed to the boards.
