182643156Philadelphia: American Sunday-School Union n.d. Circa 1826. A preacher in England bumps into an old Sunday School student of his named John Robins. The two get to talking and Robins tells how he managed to lose an eye and a best friend at Trafalgar and then a leg in the course of his naval career. He spent quite a while "in the service of sin" but eventually found his way back to the Lord and now is perfectly happy to have been "a brand plucked out of the burning." Well to each his own. Worldcat dates this pretty little book at 1826. It stands 4 1/4 inches tall and is bound in quarter leather over marbled boards with gilt spine lettering. This is the volume referred to in James. The introductory Notice makes reference to the James history. It features 28 numbered sheets one for each year from 1793 to 1820 containing great amounts of information about British naval vessels. This information is keyed by an alphabetical system to the text in James history. Bound in full calf. Later reback in brown leather. Boards slightly bowed but still VG books
