1895otllH.R. Allenson 1895. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. The boards are a touch rubbed and edge worn particularly at the top and bottom edges of the spine but remain strong and confident with gold gilt to the front and spine. Internally the hinges are slightly cracked and the pages are tanned around the edges. There are no markings or inscriptions however and the pages within are crisp clean and complete with a frontis and folding map at the back. The binding is secure. Written by Mrs. Macquoid or Katharine Sarah Macquoid a British novelist and travel writer who published over sixty works Geraldine Glasgow a Scottish writer Minnie Faulkner an English writer and many others. In the original quarter cloth binding with pictorial paper covered boards. Externally sound with rubbing and chipping resulting in light loss to the extremities. The odd small mark to the boards. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd handling mark and ight age toning to the extremities. Contemporary ink inscription to the front pastedown dated 1893.
