While there are no illustrations there are a plethora of both original works and selections from previously published works. In Vol. III we find "Adventures in the Northwest: The Wigwam in the Wilderness" by Henry W. Herbert aka Frank Forester as well as a reprinting of J. J. Audubon's "Natural History of the Alligator".
