The book is in generally clean solid condition. The spine ends corners and edges of the book covers have some bumping rubbing and wear. The book covers have spots of ground-in dirt and water spotting. The rear cover has several noticeable patches of discoloration. The text pages are generally clean and bright. The is a previous owner's address label on the front pastedown page which has been gouged by a former owner to muddy the name and address. There is also a different previous owner's ink stamped name and address on the same page and on the reverse of the front endpaper. The first free page has an inked previous owner's name and Chinese "Chop". "Smith Matthew Hale. A Unitarian minister journalist and author; born in Portland ME in 1810; died in Brooklyn NY 1879. As a newspaper correspondent under the name Burleigh he attained reputation for vivacity and piquancy. He also made successful lecture tours. His writings include: Universalism Exposed 1842 ; Universalism Not of God 1847 ; Sabbath Evenings 1849 ; Mount Calvary 1866 ; and Sunshine and Shadow in New York 186869 " from Bartleby's website . J. 186535068Circa 1865. 1865. Good. - A black-bordered 2-3/4 inch high by 4-5/8 inch wide cover has been mounted on a slightly larger cream card. The cover is addressed in black ink in Raglan's hand and signed by him at bottom left: "Raglan". There is some staining below the stamp. Good. <p>This front panel of an envelope is addressed by Raglan to Francis Cavendish at the Foreign Office in London.<p>Richard Somerset 2nd Baron Raglan 1817-1884 was a British peer who began his career as Private Secretary to Lieutenant General Sir Colin Campbell in Ceylon. He subsequently joined the Ceylon civil service and then was assistant government agent of Colombo. He left the island in 1849 to become the private secretary of George V of Hanover the last king of Hanover and the father of King George III of Britain. From 1858-59 and 1866-69 he was a Lord-in-Waiting a member of the Royal Household. Circa [1865]. unknown

Rubbed corners with exposure some layering. Inner hinges reinforced. Text block shows age-toned edges but is otherwise fully intact with firm binding. Sinclair relocated to North Street in 1868. There is a tear app. 5 inches extending from left margin at mid point into the image. It is a closed tear and can be repaired easily I have not done the repair since the purchaser may wish to have it done professionally. No damage at folds. The Crystal Palace an exhibition building erected for the 1853 World's Fair Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations in Reservoir Square present day Bryant Park. The Crystal Palace took its inspiration from the Crystal Palace in London's Hyde Park a similar structure constructed for the Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of all Continents in 1851. The Crystal Palace was destroyed by fire on October 5 1858. Henry Bill unknown
