At the funeral of influential social thinker Claude-Henri de Rouvroy comte de Saint-Simon 1760-1825 his disciples founded a movement to foster socio-political cooperation and development for the common welfare of humanity. Even before the trial a schism had split the movement. Olinde Rodrigues an original disciple of Saint-Simon founded an organized religious movement in December 1831. <br/><br/>Account of the August 1832 trial of Prosper Enfantin 1796-1864 and his fellow Saint-Simonians for illegal assembly and public meetings at which advocating the equality of women through spoken discourse and printed works they commited crimes "in violation of public morality and good morals" outrage à la morale publique et aux bonnes moeurs.<br/><br/>"La supériorité que d'après les lois l'home exerce en certains cas sur la femme est suivant les Saint-Simoniens un autre abus auquel il faut mettre un terme. The two plates include a bust portrait of Prosper Enfantin designated "Le Père" Father and a leaf with portraits of the four accused. <br/><br/>Prosper Enfantin and Michel Chevalier served six months in prison. Enfantin and a group of his followers subsequently lived in for a time in Egypt but their technocratic scheme to construct a dam in the Nile foundered. The Saint-Simonian movement had waned by the time of the Second Empire but their ideals and revolutionary aims influenced many nineteenth-century thinkers Marx and Engels among them.<br/><br/>Only one copy recorded in North America and four in France.
