Original quarter crimson and gilt-stamped leather red blind-stamped cloth all edges gilt; extremities worn joints cracked. Very good. An interesting collection of writings by 4 very different men joined by their fascination with aeronautics. Flammarion was a French astronomer and prolific author of works on popular science Glasiher was an English meteorologist and aeronaut Fonvielle was a dedicated balloonist while Tissandier was a chemist meteorologist and aviator. This work describes many of their experience and experiments relating to air travel principally in balloons. Includes some very nice illustrations. Librairie de L. Hachette, 1870. hardcover books
