This copy of Mein Kampf was the first to be translated into French but was not authorized by Hitler or his German publisher Franz Eher and was forced to be withdrawn. The French populace was obviously interested in Hitler's writings especially in regard to his intentions towards France. An authorized edition was translated into French in 1938 entitled Ma Doctrine published by a leading French publishing house Librairie Arthème Fayard. The book outlines many of Hitler's political beliefs his political ideology and future plans for Germany and the world.</p><p>Hitler began <em>Mein Kampf </em>while imprisoned following his failed coup in Munich in November 1923 and a trial in February 1924 for high treason.</p><p>After Hitler's death copyright of <em>Mein Kampf</em> passed to the state government of Bavaria which refused to allow any copying or printing of the book in Germany.
