WILLIAM WHEWELL 1794-1866 was the Knightbridge Professor of Moral Philosophy at Trinity College Cambridge and a remarkable polymath who made notable contributions to the fields of science architecture economics mathematics philosophy translation poetry education theology jurisprudence and engineering.
