This like many other works from this era is a controversial book on the ongoing fights between Protestant and Catholics the government and the church and Ireland and Britain. In fact Shields himself refers to the controversy as a plague.</p><p>"how many millions of poor inadvertent souls hath been irrecoverably lost and ruined to all intents and purposes by this most dangerously infecting plagues."</p><p>This 1699 first and only known edition is incredibly rare with no other example known to exist not only for sale but in institutional holdings.
