1861106225<p>Folio newspaper illustrated 615-630 pp. Some chips tears and folds at the edges and margins front page a little darkened and browned contents generally bright and clear; overall very good. The major article which starts on the front page is the death of the Prince Consort Prince Albert he of course was married to Queen Victoria. There are a number of wood engravings contained in this issue including one of divers working on the Westminster Bridge. This is a relatively early depiction of diving equipment. </p> books

The print which is entitled "American Sketches: Bathing at Long Branch New York" actually shows Long Branch New Jersey. The print depicts men women and children in period dress along the shore-line and bathing in the ocean. The Long Branch bluffs and bath houses are in the background. $75.00. <br/><br/> unknown books

This is a collection of the Illustrated London News that was probably used to promote subscriptions. The date on the tile page indicates 1852 but the actual issues seem to run from March 30 1844 to November 30 1844. This volume contains over 20 issues. While some issues may say reprint these reprints were done around 1852 for what appears some promotional effort. This volume contains some of the earlier issues of this publication which began in May 1842. It contains some interesting news and illustrations including a short story and illustration of a copper balloon for flying in Paris March 30 1844 the London Stock Exchange April 13 1844 an article and illustrations on Emigration to Sydney April 13 1844 a visit from the King of France June 1 1844 and an article on currency and income taxes June 1 1844. books

This is a collection of the Illustrated London News that was probably used to promote subscriptions. The date on the tile page indicates 1852 but the actual issues seem to run from December 7 1844 to July 5 1845. This volume contains about twenty issues during that period but does not include every issue. In some of these promotional collections some issues are reprinted but the reprints are from 1852. A couple of pages are missing but the issues seem mostly complete. This volume was put out about ten years after the Illustrated London News began publication in May 1842. It contains some very interesting news and illustrations including an illustration of an 'electric telegraph' in the April12 1845 issue a very young Queen Victoria and Prince Albert engraving at a costume ball in the June 7 1845 issue and a tennis match in the February 1 1845 issue. books
