1979BIBLIO-58541Royal Numismatic Society London first editions 1979-2014. 36 volumes red or claret cloth gilt spine-titles 8vo 24 cm to volume 165 and 27 cm thereafter. various paginations latterly over 400 pp per volume many plates. An unbroken run of 36 annual volumes of the peer-reviewed Journal of the Royal Numismatic Society. Each volume contains a wealth of scholarshp on numismatic subjects the contents normally including: articles reports of newly discovered coin hoards reports of excavations review articles book reviews and numerous plates of illustrations. All areas of numismatics are covered including: Asian Byzantine and Aksumite Celtic Greek Islamic Medieval Modern and Roman Numismatics. Generally a Very Good or better set but 4 volumes 1979 to 1981 and 1998 have dampstaining and rubbing to the boards and a little staining to endpapers and one or two other leaves with these 4 volumes also smelling a little musty; some other volumes with minor shelfwear and the 2004 volume with a stain to the front board; nearly all volumes have a small ex-libris blindstamp to the foot of the title-page. A few volumes are in red cloth with most in claret cloth. The set occupies just over four feet approximately 127 cm in shelf space.
