Vicaire III: 1187- 1188. </p>This humorous children's book begins with discussion of the newly finished Eiffel Tower as it was at the entrance to the Exposition Universelle of 1889 held in Paris and its mention in the dialogue between Bob and l'Abbé opens their discussion of people places ideas and things at the Exposition held in the centennial year of the storming of the Bastille in 1789. The profuse in-text illustrations also reflect the presence of multi-cultural events at the Exposition. The dancers from Java whose gamelan orchestra so impressed Claude Debussy. Also the many full-page black-and-white illustrations show the presence of Middle Eastern and African culture at the Exposition. This is a very good copy.
