Trade catalog for this shipbuilding firm with many diagrams and printed photos of a wide range of vessels "engined and boilered" by the Thornycroft company. It also includes detailed tables for evaporation specific gravity for fuel oil heat values for coal and oil etc. This was a trade catalog for a large and prosperous firm with an international clientele in a period before W.W.I. During the war the yard at Woolston yard made 26 destroyers 3 submarines and a large number of smaller craft for the Royal Navy. Interestingly John's daughter naval architect Blanche Thornycroft worked alongside her father and after his death testing models calculating and recording results Wikipedia. <br /> <br /> John I. Thornycroft had shown shipbuilding ability when aged 16 he began building a small steam launch in 1859. it proved to be the first steam launch with enough speed to follow the contenders in the University race. the company developed a water-tube boiler patented in 1885." This is catalog #74 and has 10-15 illustrations on almost every page measurements and many times excellent photographs. Scarce and unusual. 19255916Cleveland: Interstate School of Commerce 1925. Folded brochure. Very good . One folded brochure which unfolds to the size of a poster about 3.75" x 9" folded; 15" x 27" unfolded. In very good or better condition with old folds and trivial foxing at the fore-edge of the front wrap. Fantastic ephemeral document which promotes the Interstate School of Commerce a kind of private vocational school. When fully unfolded a collage of more than 100 recent graduates appears superimposed on the buildig that houses the school. Most interestingly the school is co-educational and seems to make very little distinction between its male and female students. At the first stage of unfolding the following is printed: "The Field of Woman's Endeavor is an Ever Widening One." This brochure was meant to be mailed although this example never was.
