Papered boards with a wood-grain pattern lettered in black on the front cover; slight wear to the extremities with some loss to the surface of the spine presumably as ever given the nature of the material; minimal signs of age and use; a very good copy internally excellent. This retrospective publication includes illustrations of furnishings by early luminaries of Scandinavian design including Ole Wanscher Kaj Gottlob Mogens Lassen Frits Schegel Thoresen Lassen and Flemming Lassen. <p>This is a presentation copy inscribed and signed by Andreas Jeppe A.J. Iversen 1888-1979 the influential designer and cabinetmaker who paved the way for Danish modern style. The inscription reads: 'Hr. Ingeniør Bennike Med en hjertelig Tak for De Opgaver De har givet mig og den Tillid De derved viste mig. Deres A.J. Iversen' Dear Engineer Bennike With heartfelt thanks for the tasks you have given me and the trust you have thereby shown me. Yours A.J. 19123220206<p><em>Oblong folio 318 x 472 mm 88 chromolithograph illustrated pages; only occasional light spotting; original cloth-backed flexible boards imitating cloth front cover printed in bronze colour; spine worn a few marks.</em></p><p>The furniture house Grocholesky situated in a small town near Hildesheim in Lower Saxony offered entire suites for living- dining- and bedrooms mainly in art nouveau style however still including the odd piece of historicist design for the more conservative buyer.</p><p>The large and beautiful illustrations show suites of furniture with the measurements on each page; the furniture suitably decorated with modernist vases and mantelpiece decorations on display on dressers shelves and cupboards to give customers an idea of design potential.</p><p>gProvenanceg: Inscribed on the rear inside cover by a citizen of Bockenem at a later date and with stamp and release stamp by a local museum.</p> Bockenem: Grocholesky, Printed by H. Stated Twelfth Bungalow Book Edition 1913. This is a well used copy but complete. Creased well thumbed stray pencil marks light scribblings some pages soiled two signatures on the title page but wonderful. 92 pages with an illustration of each house apparently as built with an accompanying floor plan with measurements. Many interior shots as well. Virtually all are Arts and Crafts bungalow style homes that fill so many streets in the L. A. area. Awards page gilt printed and blind-stamped. The second trade catalogue issued by Pittsburgh's Standard Sanitary Manufacturing Company. The prior year the company issued their first catalogue with the same pagination. The catalogue begins with images of complete bathrooms with each element specified. The later part of the catalogue lists individual elements with dimensions and prices. Standard Sanitary worked with Chasmar-Winchell Press to design this and their other elegant catalogues. Internally fine. Original wrapper printed in black and brown has one small adhesion mark. Otherwise near fine. OCLC locates no copies of this and three copies of the 1901 printing; not in Romaine.
