It is bound at the bottom so that Boy Scouts could take it and go door to door and flip the pages for their prospective customers to view the various styles available. The first leaf is a chromolithograph and the remainder are monochrome. 16 leaves showing the various types of Keds available and 4 leaves at the rear discussing the prizes available to Troops that sell the most Publisher's yellow flexible soft front cover with the following printed message "53 Million Keds Messages to 7 Basic Markets." The rear cover is stiff cardboard. All bound by a single brad at the bottom. A few red dots on front and very minor foxing to first leaf else a very clean and handsome copy.Some of the styles features are: Yeoman Oxford Majestic Oxford Bike Keds Kes Speedway Keds Stride Keds Devlin. Majestic Keds etcIn 1916 U.S. Rubber consolidated 30 different shoe brand names to create one company. Initially the brand name "Peds" was chosen for the company from the Latin word for feet but the name was already trademarked so the settled on the name "Keds." Because the shoes had a soft rubber sole they became known as sneakers as the rubber soles allowed "sneaking around silently". By the early 1920s the shoes were worn by Olympic soccer players national and international tennis champions and college athletes. Cover is printed in red and black and reads "Kaslo West Kootenay British Columbia : An Illustrated Booklet Containing An Interesting Summary of the Varied Resources and Attractions of a City and District With a Very Promising Future / Issued by Authority of the Kaslo Board of Trade / February 1913". A promotional booklet from the Kootenay Lake town of Kaslo BC published to aid in promoting the town following the 1890s mining boom flood and fire. Saddle stapled wraps narrow 8vo size 9.25 inches tall pp. 1-16 illustrated throughout w. halftone photo reproductions line drawings tables and a map on back cover signed at bottom left "JT". It is interesting to note some of the ghost town names printed on the inside back cover in the "Table of Distances from Kaslo" and on the map on the back cover such as "Ironton" "Quarry" "S. Bench" and "Goldhill". Upper cover w. "Kootenaian Job Department / Kaslo" printed on verso and three of the ancient and then fashionable swastika good luck signs later appropriated by the Nazis within the box surrounding the historiated "T" in the first line of text on p. 1. Volume w. rust to staples minor wear and soil else unmarked. Also included is a pink "Empire Day" ribbon dated May 24th 1909 w. some soil and fraying at ends. A rare piece of Kootenaiana and the only copy we have ever seen. OCLC locates just one other extant hard copy of this early Kaslo promo. Kaslo Board of Trade paperback

Original wrappers some are folded occasional creasing at margins and minor soiling or browning. Overall very good. Sizes vary from 8.4 x 15.2 to 27 x 39cm. This is an interesting collection of Japanese trade catalogues on water pumps and motors.
