Bound in full brown leather with blind tooling to board surfaces and faded text to spine. Boards have a loss of leather to spine ends red rot to spine the front board is detached from the spine cracking to rear joint and chipping to corners. Textblock has a previous owner's ink signature to the title page light age toning and light soiling and stains scattered on some pages throughout. Edges have faded speckling. Shelved in Room A. Some indecipherable by us writing on front cover. Former owner's name "Richard Downing Jr." on title-page and recto of frontis leaf. Front pastedown no longer pasted down and rear pastedown now partially unpasted. Frontis detached. A worn copy which is textually intact in what seems likely to be the original binding. The "Lettres d'amour d'une religieuse portugaise" consists of the letters previously attributed to M. Alcoforado and now ascribed to Guilleragues preceded by the seven letters written in imitation of them each letter except the last being followed by an answer./ The "Lettres galantes de Cleante et Belise" is by Anne Ferrand. 2 copies in OCLC Texas A&M only in the US.
