Modestly rubbed edges and extremities mild exposure at most corners. Leather shows a few light scuffs but remains quite supple and intact. Text blocks mildly toned but otherwise intact with firm bindings. Slight dampstaining at top corners of text block on both volumes not bleeding into margins or affecting interior in any way mentioned as a very minor cosmetic issue. Stitching visible in the inside margins however the book is still very solid. Text in French. The History of the Blazon and the Science of Coat of Arms. A classic on the subject. Some pages are torn out one leave is detached and some are lightly stained. Fair.<br /> <br /> This small pocket book contains Massey family genealogy with several names and records written inside. Most of the pencil written records are from the 1870's. The earliest date recorded is in January 1862. The ledger had multiple purposes with some accounts and other misc. information recorded. The last note abut the Massey family was written in 1946. On the front paste down in old ink inscription "Office of Fuller & Co. Chicago Illinois John Baker." Also included is a yellow pin clipped notice titled "Yellow Day. n/a hardcover

Covers have light edge wear. Ledger contains 62 leaves 124 pages of which 89 pages were used for recording names and other information. Eight used pages in the back only have one word to a brief heading top of the page. Several leaves in front and in the middle of the ledger were removed. Contents inside are clean. No owner name or group name recorded. <br /> <br /> Contents consist of alphabetical listing of Norwich citizens. The first page has the written heading on the top line "Residence. List of Voters in Norwich - 1834 - Political." Underneath the heading are 4 columns with the last name followed by the first names. The first name listed is Richard Adams. The last name is Marcus Young. A nice primary source of local family genealogy of Norwich. n/a unknown

188810720Charles G. Bosher 1888. Unbound. Very Good binding. Bifolium. 4 pp. Unbound folded sheet with printing on all four pages. Old folds; some toning. This genealogical leaflet offers a paragraph of the earliest known Boshers with particular focus on Charles Bosher of England and Charles's children. There is particular focus on the issue of the Charles's youngest son Gideon. In addition to names and marrages there are occasionally biographical notes usually only a line but telling: "John Bosher's wife was burned in the old theatre in 1811 the site of the present Monumental Episcopal Church in Richmond VA." Or "James succeeded Charles Bosher in 1814 in the present carriage business carried on by R. H. Bosher's Sons." On contemporary owner note in the text: "This is our line" else clean. A remarkably uncommon leaflet that appears unrecorded in the usual bibliographies and references. We find one mention on a genealogical wikisite that attributes the printing to Charles Bosher and the date to "about 1888"; both of which seem contextually plausible. Remarkably ephemeral piece with noteworthy information. [Charles G. Bosher] unknown

185724315New York 1857. Ephemera. Fine. A handsomely printed solicitation asking for prepublication commitments for a volume by Horatio Ward of the Ward family genealogy. The rather grand solicitation is issued in three pieces two pieces printed on large paper measuring 10x13" copperplate engraved. The sample sheet of genealogy is printed in red and black headed with "Warde of Broke Jeffrey Warde d. 1558 and Jane d. of Edward Wright. " Mr. Augustus Henry Ward's return address is 14 Washington Place New York dated June 1st 1857. <br /> <br /> It begins "I beg leave to inform you that Horatio Wards Esq. now of London for several years has given a great deal of his time to researches in the origin and early history of OUR race and has it engrossed in only two manuscript books beginning with the year 1130 and coming down to our day thus embracing the prominent families in England of our name for this long period and of some of their Descendants in the United States to which there will be much added by the proposed publication." Further- "As it will comprise so many of the Ward families of England many of their descendants in this country will be able to find the genealogy of their ancestors therein. as the author has done of HIS family viz. the Wards of Westchester County N.Y. descendants of Andrew Ward who landed in 1632 with Gov. Winthrop. "<br /> <br /> The third piece is a smaller preprinted form for subscribers to return to him by June 1857 which is a blank form. Indeed OCLC does not appear to have a copy recorded; perhaps it was privately published and is not held in a library; or possibly never published. Augustus Henry Ward 1801-1869 is buried in Trinity Church Cemetery in Manhattan NY. unknown
