First Edition. Contemporary calf. 300mm x 240mm 12" x 9". 172pp xxxi. 4 folding tables 5 engraved plates hand-coloured engraving of Pool Park signed on reverse by Lord Bagot. Although the name of the compiler is not stated on the title page a short paragraph on page 99 states 'William the Second Lord Bagot and Compiler of these Memorials.' The volume is inscribed on a preliminary page to Henry Eyers Landor Esq and dated Blithfield January 1827. There is also a signature of Lord Bagot on the reverse of the linen back hand coloured engraving bound in at page 74. Gilt-decorated cloth a little rubbed and bumped at the extremities with some wear to the ends of the spines of three of the last four volumes; all spines sunned and a little marked; endpapers of two volumes a little waterstained with bookplates removed from two others; edges and first and last few leaves of all volumes foxed; the first four volumes contain the armorial bookplate of John Tolhurst and a later monastery ex-libris label; apart from these external and generally superficial blemishes a very good set. Publications of the Harleian Society Volumes 23 24 25 26 33 34 30 and 31 respectively. The last four volumes cover the periods 1660-68 1669-79 1679-87 and 1687-94 respectively; the seeming overlap with the contents of the first-mentioned volume above Volume 23 is explained in a prefatory note: Volumes 33 and 34 'contain the Marriage Licences issued by the Vicar-General of the Archbishop of Canterbury between the 25th day of July 1660 and the 15th day of July 1679 which were omitted' in Volume 23. Ichabod Miller who was appointed to the 8th Company of the "Alarm List" in the 23rd Regiment and refers to source Connecticut Records Vol. 1 page 486. Levi Coe also provides Col. Miller a rough hand written family chart Meriden Historical Society printed on the chart. A two page historical article about Levi Coe from the Levi E. Placed inside volume 1 is a printed copied letter with blank envelope signed by the author June 1885 and small note on paper "Please acknowledge the receipt E. S. Salisbury." This letter describes the set discusses how many copies are for sale and how much each will cost. A folded 8 page extra half title page title page dedication page and preface page folded laid inside the front cover. There is no writing in part 1. <br /> <br /> Previous owner inscription written on the right front flyleaf part 2 - "Robert Bogardus Snowden See Breese" Breese is underlined. A few brief pencil notes located in the Breese section. One sheet of additional family information is laid inside the text. A small "Supplement to Preface" paginated viii. The supplement is laid inside the front cover. The supplement is numbered 106 of 200 copies. Heavy edge toning and some chips to this supplement. Regarding the additional supplement the compiler states - "In addition to the acknowledgments made in the preface of pecuniary aid received for the printing of this volume I have now the pleasure of acknowledging a liberal supplement to the generous contribution of the late Hon. Leather shows thin strip of loss at heel of spine and is chipped but intact at head of spine; joints show some rubbing and a hint of separation at corners. Overall leather remains dark and supple with few surface marks modest rubbing along bottom edge. Former owner book plate on front pastedown. 999 pp. illus. w/ numerous b&w portrait plates.
