Eugenia Stanhope 1730-86 is best remembered for her publication of Lord Chesterfield's letters to his sonsee above. The letters were supposed to be private and Eugenia was attacked for being greedy and immoral. The present work "partly endorses partly rebuts Chesterfield. It argues that husbands are ordained superior that wives should be financially dependent and the world conformed to. Blain.
