First edition 1 of 1000 copies 400 of which were for sale and this iteration featuring the colour chromolithograph on Japan paper for frontisp. and rear flyleaf. An exceptional and lavishly illustrated history of lighting and oil lamps from ancient Rome until the 19th Century filled with an extraordinary variety of lamps lanterns and oil lamps candelabras candles and with a distinct focus on ornamental ironwork and metalworking.
