Altersentsprechend guter Zustand. Die historische und überaus bürgerliche Einladungskarte aus dem Jahr 1885 gab die Hochzeit der Familien Hennig und Schulze bekannt. Polterabend und festliches Mittagsmahl nach der Trauung sollten am 26. März 1885 im Hotel de Brandebourg Charlottenstraße 59 stattfinden. Nur ein Jahr später - im Sommer 1886 - wurde das alte Gebäude von 1781 abgerissen und durch einen Neubau der wilhelminischen Zeit ersetzt. Sehr seltenes Relikt aus dem bürgerlichen Berlin und Preussen in der Zeit vor 1900! unknown

18787990Martinsburg W. Va: the hotel; Statesman Print 1878. Bi-fold menu folded on top edge 20.5 x 12 cm. 4 pages. Printed in blue. A four-page program with menu for a banquet honoring Col. Nadenbousch at the Grand Central Hotel in Martinsburg West Virginia. Colonel John Quincy Adams Nadenbousch owned the Hotel in which he was being feted as well as a lumber yard and the Martinsburg branch of the Hannis Distillery based in Philadelphia. He pursued these activities following service in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War. Prior to the war he had been instrumental in forming the Berkeley Border Militia a pre-Civil War local militia. While the toasts contain a number of shout outs to the nation as a whole and to the period of peace and relative prosperity in which this banquet took place there is also a toast to "The Militia of West Virginia and her Nobel Volunteer Corps. Where duty calls we may be sure to find them." The order of toasts is joined by a list of the officers and VIPs associated with this banquet. The rear panel contains the "Table'd'Hote" indicating the meal started at 1 pm. ~ Very slight soiling otherwise fine. [the hotel; Statesman Print] unknown

Bifolium approx. 8¼" x 5½" showing on the front a wood engraving of the Louisville Hotel with hours of operation and on the back a wood engraving of another M. Kean & Co. property Maxwell House. The double-page spread on the inside gives an elaborate dinner menu on p. 2 for Tuesday March 19 including turtle soup leg of mutton jole and greens calf's feet a la Horli Sago cakes with wine roast prairie grouse with jelly as well as assorted vegetables relishes pastries and desserts; the wine list on page 3 lists 10 champaigns 14 clarets 3 ports 9 "native wines" and assorted white wines cider liqueurs ales and porters all with prices affixed. Fine example. The Louisville Hotel opened in 1833 was the city's first large elegant hotel; it closed in 1938 and was razed in 1949. M. Kean & Co the owner of the hotel also ran the Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville which opened in 1869. John P. Morton & Co unknown
18994669Sandon BC: Hotel Reco 1899. Single Sheet. Very Good. A 19th century weekly payroll sheet 14 x 17 inches wide from the storied Kootenay mining town of Sandon British Columbia. This Hotel Reco pay sheet honors the Cook as the most valuable employee with his .75 / day recorded in the pay column. Pay sheet w. fold lines hole punch holes at top edge some soil stains and faint offset from a once adjoining page also noted. The Hotel Reco burned to the ground on May 4th 1900 - along with most of the rest of Sandon - while this payroll sheet was safely stored inside a fire-proof safe making this historical record a very uncommon survivor indeed. 18909319Boston: Robinson Engraving Co 1890. Menu in painted wooden boards bound with cord 20 x 15.2 cm. 10 gold-printed leaves each a die-cut circle printed versos only. An elaborate program of events for the eleventh annual meeting of the Hotel Men's Mutual Benefit Association held in May 1890 at Boston's great hotels the Parker House Hotel Vendome and American House. The H.M.M.B.A. was founded in 1879 to offer hotel workers insurance plans; it was later to become the Bankers Life and Casualty Company. The program and menu for the three-day meeting includes the meeting itself music speakers presentations carriage excursions etc. The painted wooden boards hold die-cut 'booklets' dedicated to the Convention headquartered at the Parker House the Eleventh Annual Banquet held at the American House and the Reception held at the Hotel Vendome. The boards are scored and textured painted in silver with gold spots and hold a hand-lettered piece of 'vellum'. Some rubbing to edges of boards otherwise very good. Robinson Engraving Co hardcover

189619300Portland Oregon: St. Charles Hotel. Very Good. 1896. First Edition. Hardcover. Bound in 3/4 leather. The cloth on the cover is worn and peeling. Every other page is advertising which acted as a blotter for the fountain pens in use at the time. Some of those advertising pages have been removed or torn. A previous owner has tipped a page in showing "interesting signatures" he found. I make to claim as to the identity of these people as I am sure some are simply folks with the same names as other more famous people. Still a wonderful piece of Northwest history. A massive book 12x18" and 3" thick. ; Folio 13" - 23" tall . St. Charles Hotel hardcover
