The covers are rubbed with some of the foil chipped from the corners and from the inner edge of the front cover along the spiral. 54 unnumbered pages with tabs with profuse full-page photographic illustrations depicting the agriculture of grapes production of wines spirits and tobacco as well as those who enjoy the spirits. There is some minor soiling and creasing. Internally very good.</p><p>Limited edition this is number 64 of an unstated number of copies. Though there is no reference as to the date the style and illustrations would suggest that the book was published soon after the repeal of prohibition.</p><p>Includes an extensive list of wines spirits liqueurs mixed drinks beer and ales non-alcoholic beverages and cigars.</p><p>"This Book may be purchased from the hotel. Light toning to margins old red wax remnants to verso else Very Good. <br /> <br /> "Clean Comfortable Convenient" reads the hotel's logo. Located at 615 E. Archer St. in the heart of Tulsa's historic Greenwood neighborhood the establishment of an upscale hotel for Black travelers and road trippers marked a turning point in the reconstruction of the neighborhood. Just a generation earlier Greenwood nicknamed Black Wall Street for its thriving Black businesses and citizenry had been decimated by white supremacists businesses and homes razed to the ground and as many as 300 citizens murdered. At its height the hotel run by owner-manager W.H. Small boasted 77 rooms 50 of them "with connecting bath / Fans and telephones in all rooms." Date of business card based on the "Negro Motorist Green Book" for 1940 which lists the hotel on p. 39. <br /> <br /> The address 615 E. Archer Street today stands on the corner across from the Greenwood Rising Black Wall Street History Center which commemorates the neighborhood's history and legacy. unknown

One large panoramic photocrom sized 14.25 x 42.5 in. mounted behind original 22 x 50 in. mat with original 27.5 x 55 in. quarter-sawn oak frame w/ original engraved brass plaque sized 1 x 4.5 in affixed to lower fore-edge retaining original glass. A superb example of this large photochrom panorama of the historic Gothic Revival Hotel Del Monte after it had been rebuilt in 1888 following a tragic fire. Charles Crocker and other members of the “Big Four†who had founded the Central Pacific and completed the transcontinental railroad formed the Pacific Improvement Co. in 1880 to develop the lavish Hotel Del Monte leisure resort immediately attracting thousands of annual visitors. The beauties of Monterey Bay groves of pine oak & cedar with well laid out roads were all designed to feed into the splendid hotel. The main building shown here in the image was 385 feet long by 115 feet wide with two deep wings and four stories with a tall tower containing choice suite with extended views of the countryside. The amenities included bars bowling alleys smoking rooms in detached buildings stables carriage houses ponds fountains and beautifully landscaped grounds. Occasionally mistaken for hand-coloured photographs these stunning images were created by a photolithographic process by which black and white negatives are applied to multiple lithographic stones and colours are added one stone at a time often requiring up to 19 different stones for these vividly coloured images. Jackson 1843-1942 was a noted artist and Western photographer who joined the company by selling his entire stock of 1000s of negatives to the Detroit Photographic Co. in 1897 providing the core images enabling the company to produce millions of images from postcards up to the large panoramas. In 1903 after the resignation of Edwin Husher Jackson took over the supervising and publishing of the images as well as supervising a crew of forty artisans and a dozen traveling salesman. A pocket-sized tourist brochure advertising the Fuji New Grand Hotel on the shores of Lake Yamanaka. <br> <br>The Fuji New Grand a sister to the New Grand Hotel in Yokohama is said to have opened to much fanfare in 1936 and served as a popular retreat during the interwar years becoming the secondary subject of many atmospheric depictions of Mount Fuji. Following the war alongside her Yokohama sister she was requisitioned by SCAP and converted into a retreat for Allied personnel though following the occupation was unable to reclaim her former glory. The Fuji New Grand was ultimately closed and demolished in the 1970s. . unknown

Single sheet printed double sided folded into 8 panels title image printed in blue and red shows a romantic scene across the river to the Bund with traditional Chinese craft and a modern ship in the foreground. Browning occasional light marks creasing and wear but overall a good copy of a scarce piece of Shanghai ephemera. Text in Japanese. Tourist brochure published by the Japanese inn Hinomaru Ryokan in Shanghai in the mid-1930s. The brochure is undated but it appears to have been published sometime after the First Shanghai Incident in 1932. Hinomaru Ryokan was named in honour of the Japanese national flag which was and is commonly called Hinomaru in Japanese. <br> <br>This interesting piece of Japanese Shanghai ephemera provides an outline of Shanghai and its Japanese community at a time when the Japanese residents numbered about 29000. The inn promotes its convenient location within the Japanese community and reassures visitors that the Hinomaru Ryokan is a safe place to stay given is close proximity to approximately 2000 Japanese troops stationed at the Marine's quarters at the ready to protect the residents. It also advertises the free tours of the area it runs and states it is a designated place of accommodation by the Japanese Consulate South Manchurian Railways Manchukuo embassy and the Japanese Tourist Bureau. Additionally the brochure lists the primary sights to be seen in Shanghai Suzhou and Hangzhou a 6-day sightseeing tour plan and train shipping and air schedules and prices. . 日の丸旅館. 191910028Avalon Santa Catalina Island Calif 1919. Menu 17.6 x 13.5 cm. 2 pages. A menu for this historic resort hotel on Santa Catalina Island. The Hotel St. Catherine was born of a disastrous fire of 1915 during which the Banning home burnt to the ground taking much of Avalon with it. The Banning family built the original Hotel on the site of the fire opening on June 28 1918 a bit more than a year before this menu was printed. Offerings include Queen Olives Seville olives selected for larger size Steamed Albacore Celery Sauce Fried Honeycomb Tripe a la Horley and Fig Soufflé Pudding. The verso lists "Things to Do" including Glass Bottom Boat Trips – "see the submarine gardens"– Auto Stage Scenic Rides "Cornell's" Isthmus Barbecue Saddle Horses and more. The verso text is framed in an engraved image of sailboats in the sea around the island. Horizontal crease across the center of the leaf otherwise fine. unknown
