The text tells a melodramatic story of Gutenberg's life and a history of printing and its processes how books are made etc. including the beginning of printing in China stencils waxen tablets engraving etc. Full of anecdotes. Also talks of the differences in the variety of type type-setting machinery stereotyping the hand-press books for the blind etc. Emily Clemens Pearson was a writer from New England residing variously in Granby Connecticut Portland Maine Warsaw Virginia and Andover Mass.
