19778860San Diego CA: Chuck Martinez 1977. First Edition. Original wraps. Near Fine. 6 3/4 X 8 1/2 Inches. 134 PP. Paul Harris is widely regarded as one of the most influential creators in modern magic celebrated for his ability to transform simple props into moments of profound astonishment. He is widely known as the mentor of magician David Blaine. Harris pioneered effects that emphasize emotional impact over spectacle encouraging magicians to focus on connection rather than complexity. His writings reshaped how magicians think about wonder itself presenting magic as an experience that shifts perception instead of just a trick. Harris's inventions have become staples in close-up magic and his philosophical approach continues to inspire performers who want their magic to feel organic human and genuinely surprising.

Original comb-bound first edition. When the family jewelry store closed in 1922 Heaney announced that he would devote all of his time to the development of magical goods. To this end he started a mail order business for magical books tricks novelties and other supplies. Heaney married Viola "Vi" McCarthy in 1925 or 1926. Soon thereafter the pair met Houdini back-stage after a performance at Chicago's Princess Theater. He asked them to join his group of assistants and they worked Houdini until a month before his death in October 1926. Heaney was ambidextrous and became adept at playing card manipulation. He started performing magic by developing a 15-minute vaudeville act using playing cards. Over time Heaney also became an accomplished illusionist ventriloquist and hypnotist. The Heaney Magic Show eventually became a touring act that required about five tons of equipment per show." from Wikipedia; Mass Market PB; B&W Illustrations; 224p. pages; Pictured 3/25/24 put with entertainment in ephemera. .
