Octavo 8 1/4" tall 184 pages three-quarter calf five-banded spine with marbled boards and matching marbled endpapers gilt spine titles and gilt top and bottom fore-edge. A very good clean hardcover with leather rubbed at all corners hinges and binding tight paper just lightly yellowed. Illustrated with 16 full-page B&W illustrations including frontispiece by Muirhead Bone. Laid in are two handwritten letters one to Collin Brooks and signed by the author dated 1951 and the second to the author signed by his sister and dated 1947. Though a later printing this is a fine binding and made special by the accompanying handwritten letters. Jonathan Cape hardcover
