Nice frontispiece "We Fought Bears with Bulls" reproduced from a linoleum block cut by Louie Romiti. The beginning of the Nugget Press was in 1939 with its first publication a translation from the German of Heinrich Lienhard's "I Knew Sutter." This the third publication of the press continues the tradition of having some student group write print bind and copyright at least one book each year. The result is this beautifully produced little volume with both the original Spanish and facing English. According to the forward Enrique Cerruti was employed by H. H. Laid in is a broadside printed on card stock: My Fourteen-Mile Hike by Warren Howell reprinted from The Target Berkeley: Willard Junior High School 1925 for members of the Berkeley Historical Society & for the Ross Valley Book Company. A brief but charming account of Howell's hike for a First Class Boy Scout test including being surrounded on all sides by a squirrel colony. Warren Howell eventually became the proprietor of John Howell Books in San Francisco. When Henry Cerruti knocked on the door of Hubert Howe Bancroft's office in San Francisco in October 1873 the Yankee merchant was in the process of converting himself from book dealer to historian determined to add to the narrative of California history after 15 years of a mass of material on the subject. .
