The covers are also dampstained bumped & rubbed with wear to the edges. 232 pages illustrated with a portrait frontispiece by S. David an extra engraved title page by G. Fath 6 full-page plates by G. Fath and 8 plates by Gustave Doré. There is a 2 inch tear along the top inner edge of title page and a few signatures groups of pages are slightly pulled. Complete. The pages are bright and clean and the book is well worth restoring. <p>First edition in English published in the same year as the first French edition. All edges gilt; preliminary and final leaves foxed with the interior remaining tight bright and clean. A strong and well-preserved example overall.
