Author attribution from the BL catalogue. Following the appearance of these letters in the Times there appear to have been three versions of this title: the present one paginated as part of a larger compilation of pamphlets; another issue also in 1816 paginated 1-33; and a third issue with 19 pages and addressed to the Viscount Henry Addington Sidmouth formerly Prime Minister currently Secretary of State for the Home Department. An appeal for lighter and more consistent regulation of sales of alcoholic beverages in public-houses including taverns and hotels and an appeal for even handed applications of regulations and prosecutions in the courts. The author lays part of the blame for England's gin problem at the feet of the license system. John Thomas Barber Beaumont 1774-1841 was a British Army officer author painter early on he was miniaturist to the Duke of Clarence future King William II. Pamphlet removed from compilation; some leaves detached. Some light staining to a few leaves otherwise very good.
