Handwritten notebook with 16 additional daily accounts using "Lake Austin Woolen Mill" letterhead for this cheese factories daily tally. Ledger describes what seems to be a cheese co-op with dividends divided per day report of the season most milk received in one day June 16th - 9195 gallons days cheese was made per year 207 etc. Wells VT rests on the edge of Rutland county and in 1870 the populations total was 430 people. In the early 1800's a dam was built on Lake St. Catherine which enabled industry such as a woolen mill wood working shop and cheese factory to thrive. Dinner featured Chowder Baked Mackerel with Tomato Sauce Fried Eels - Jewish style Saratoga Chips Clam Fritters Soft Shell Crabs Quahogs Indian Pudding Ice Cream Watermelon & Peaches and Ponham Spring Water. Also noted the 1891 Executive Committee and the Providence Warren & Bristol Train schedules. <br /> <br />A private club with a membership of 200 shareholders opened in 1867 as a place for gentlemen to network over shore dinners of lobster steamed clams corn and potatoes. The club grounds included a ball field miniature clock and obstacle golf courses bowling alleys and it's own wharf. This area in Providence known as "Riverside" hosted the Crescent Park Amusement Park known as the "Coney Island of the East". Along the Providence River west of the club is the Ponham Lighthouse which is still standing today. The club closed in 1954 and the property was redeveloped for condominiums in the 1980's. La Cuisinier: Covering all aspects of cooking of post revolutionary France. Includes engraved frontispiece titled "intérieur d'une cuisine bien ordonnée" and 3 plates depicting ovens and cooking utensils. Albert was former chef de cuisine for Cardinal Fesch Napoléon's Uncle. L'art de Conserver: Appert's signature on verso of title page. One folding plate. Appert a confectioner chef and distiller developed the first method of preserving food by enclosing it in airtight sealed containers. Pasteur later admitted his pasteurization process was largely derived from Appert's earlier methods. A comprehensive household manual filled with what seems to be very helpful receipts and some of a dubious nature. Chapters filled with constructive advise on rearing livestock making butter brewing and the management of malt liquors the management of plants seeds and the greenhouse while other advice such as using a bush held by a rope to clean a chimney as opposed to employing a child children will damage the interior bricks seem a bit outdated. Accredited to Mrs. Rundell of New Systems of Domestic Cookery fame but there are many who think this is a false theory due to her well published falling out with the John Murray. All edges gilt dentelle edging and blindstamped Missing 1 cm. of leather at the head of spine. Interior crisp and clean. The plates depict distilling equipment large-scale stoves double-boilers pots and pans pressing equipment and others. The first 73 volumes of this massive work originally appeared in Berlin 1793-1798. Krunitz was born in Berlin and studied at Gottingen Halle and Frankfurt where he took his doctorate in medicine in 1749 and initially practiced. This menuwritten by Halliwell a local master of ceremonies and freemason was made to accommodate and service the 3rd and 4th battalions' officers of the West Riding Regiment formerly known as the Duke of Wellington's Regiment. The officers were lodged in the De Grey Rooms neo-classically designed and constructed by architect George Townsend Andrews in the 1840's. The building was originally built to house the Yorkshire Hussar Regiment. The menu describes breakfast luncheon and dinner with served dishes that include tea coffee bacon and eggs kidneys cakes salad soups sweets ices and more. Menu also informs the officers of prices to pay per diem for services and the charges the guests and live-in servants must pay for board and food. The second page lists the sums for individual drinks. Delightful acquisition for a connoisseur of English military history. Light fold marks with some toning. <br/><br/> unknown books
