Nell'atto costitutivo dell'azienda il nome di Gualino non poteva figurare a causa dell'interdizione a ricoprire cariche pubbliche per dieci anni voluta da Mussolini. Anche in Francia appena dopo il confino di Lipari Gualino era ripartito proprio dal cinema fondando una <strong>LUX francese. </strong>Nel 1940 la società fu trasferita da Torino a Roma. 193194778London: Gollancz 1931. First edition first impression. Provenance: from the publisher's archive of Victor Gollancz 1893-1967 one of the revolutionary figures of 20th-century publishing. Everything about Gollancz was distinctive from his business practices - he flouted convention backed newcomers extravagantly and held unique sway over the Book Society choices - to the appearance of his books. The famous yellow jackets a collaborative design between Gollancz himself and the typographer Stanley Morison bristle with blurbs recommendations and reviews in black and magenta. Prior to its acquisition by Peter Harrington the archive was shelved together from first publication though occasionally moved from warehouse to warehouse over the decades. The copies were retained by Gollancz as "archive" or "file" copies and most are stamped in ink with rubber stamps usually on the front panel of the dust jacket the front free endpaper and the title page. Charming monochrome frontispiece illustration to this analysis by Hungarian philologist/linguist/philosopher Szekely who claimed both to have translated an ancient Essene text he discovered at the Vatican in 1923 and to be descended from influential Tibetologist Sándor Csoma de Kőrös. An early proponent of whole foods Szekely founded the International Biogenic Society with Nobel Prize-winning novelist Romain Rolland and married plant-based diet activist Deborah Szekely who in the 1950s would open the Golden Door spa which attracted Hollywood celebrities including Natalie Wood Elizabeth Taylor and Barbra Streisand.</p><p>Side-stapled binding remains sound with a tight square spine. Former seller price to the first blank leaf but interior is else clean and unmarked. A one- by three-inch patch of heavy rubbing to the back cover where a label has been removed.
